Massage Therapy

Professional massage in Braintree to relax, restore and relieve tension. Choose from deep tissue, seated acupressure, Indian head and holistic massage, with sessions of 30, 45 or 60 minutes in clinic.

Massage with a physiotherapist's eye

Massage at Natural Poise is delivered with a clinical understanding of anatomy and movement. That means your treatment does more than feel good on the day. Tight muscles are traced back to their cause, whether that is posture, gait, workload or training habits, and you leave with practical advice alongside the treatment itself.

Deep tissue work targets stubborn knots and chronic tension, and suits gym-goers, runners and anyone doing physically demanding work. A full body massage is a firmer, more thorough alternative to a spa-style treatment, and many clients find problems they did not know they were carrying.

What to expect

Every session starts with a short conversation about what you need and any areas of concern. Pressure is adjusted to you throughout. If you have never had a massage before, say so, and everything will be explained as you go.

Massage options

Massage works by stretching, rolling and moving muscle tissue, which triggers the body’s own pain-relief mechanisms. Depending on what you need, that can mean slow, rhythmic strokes that ease you into deep relaxation, or firm sustained pressure that gets into tired, aching muscles. Four treatment types are offered at the clinic.

Deep Tissue Massage

Blends relaxation massage with firm work into the deeper muscle layers, using body weight to release areas of raised muscle tone that are driving pain. It suits anyone with discomfort from repetitive movement, poor posture or regular sport, and can include trigger-point work on muscular knots. Because of its intensity, you may feel tender for up to 48 hours afterwards. That is entirely normal and settles as the tissues readjust.

Seated Acupressure Massage

Delivered in a specialised chair rather than on a couch, focusing on the back, shoulders and neck with pressure applied to key acupressure points. A good choice if lying down is uncomfortable for you, or if you want a shorter treatment concentrated on the upper body.

Indian Head Massage

A relaxing yet invigorating treatment for the shoulders, neck, head and face. It helps to lift stress, release built-up tension and can ease headaches, leaving you feeling soothed and refreshed.

Holistic Massage

A gentle, restorative massage combining effleurage strokes to encourage lymph drainage, light hacking to stimulate the circulatory and nervous systems, and muscle-rolling techniques to reduce pain and improve flexibility. The aim is whole-body relaxation and rejuvenation.

Not sure which length to book? A 30-minute session suits a single problem area such as the neck and shoulders, while 60 minutes allows full body work. All session costs are on our prices page.
